If you look at your network connections under my network connections and click on wireless adapter and view networks it shows what network you are connected to and it will say security enabled if it secure. Hope this helps!

What customers say about BUFFALO TECHNOLOGY AirStation Wireless Router – IEEE 802.11n 2 x Antenna – ISM Band – UNII Band – 600 Mbps Wireless Speed – 4 x Network Port – 1 x Broadband Port – USB Desktop, Wall Mountable / WHR-600D /?

  1. Quick Start guide covers it:

    http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/buffalo-airstation-nfiniti-router/4505-3319_7-31840631-2.html?tag=txt;page

  2. i have downloaded the manual for the router the orange light means security is enabled

link for manual for you download: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/wireless-n-nfiniti-broadband-adsl2-modem-router/

    under documentation then manual

  3. It doesnt necessarily mean that its not working because of the orange light, I assume that if it were green that the wireless network is unprotected.
My wireless routers security is orange, and yet no one can get in it, so…maybe your just being paranoid. But you can check with your internet company and ask if there has been an increase in your internet traffic more than usual since you started using it.Its possible that someone could have gotten onto it if your security is low, which I doubt, but its always good to check.

  4. I don’t know anything specifically about your router, but I do know a few things about wireless security.

Entering a password as you do only verifies that you are who you say you are and you have permission to access the network or a website. The security light may, however, be on because of other factors.

You may not have any wireless encryption set up. Wireless encryption not only keeps computers out of the network if they don’t know the encryption key (aside from the password), but it keeps nearby snoops from decoding what you send. Wireless does, after all, send in all directions.

You may have certain other network options set in an insecure manner. These could be wireless administration of the router, broadcasting the network’s identity (SSID), use of the factory default network ID (one of the first things hackers learn) and others.

    Hope that helps.
