If this thing had any fewer instructions the entire box would have been empty. Have tred at least half a dozen time to get it connected and running but it never works. I’ve emailed Netgear asking sometimes begging for help but they have never once bothered to reply. The technical description was exactly what I wanted. Lesson learned. Not am I out the cost of the router but if the thing does work, I’m probably out the cost of a pro to come and get the damn thing working

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS INCREDIBLY BAD. BECAUSE IT WAS REFURBISHED, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED UNLESS I PURCHASED A SERVICE CONTRACT (WHICH COVERED “ALL DEVICES”, SUPPOSEDLY) FOR 129.00 (MORE THAN THE PRODUCT). SERVICE WAS ACTUALLY A SALES OPERATION FOR THE CONTRACTS — NEVER GOT HELP, ENDLESS CALLS WERE MADE AFTER I TOLD THEM I WAS RETURNING THE ROUTER. IT DID NOT HELP THAT THE PEOPLE COULD HARDLY BE UNDERSTOOD. THEY HAD NO INTEREST IN HELPING ME SET UP THE ROUTER, JUST SELLING A CONTRACT. I WAS DISGUSTED. I’LL NEVER KNOW IF NETGEAR PRODUCTS ARE GOOD, BECAUSE THE TECHNICAL SUPPORT WAS NONEXISTENT.

The LAN line keeps dropping off…. wireless works great, of all things, the hard wire looses connectivity frequently. I removed the software that uploaded with it, but it was easy to use and install.

  4. hmmm that wont work because that 2nd router you have to plug in the wire which comes directly from your cable modem, but you have only one of those. Why dont you try using your phone number for the wifi pw..sometimes people use that..and there are some hacks online to crack the WEP key

  5. >D; hahaha lmao rofl….. still lol (pulls gun to own head while laughing)

  6. You should NEVER use 2 routers on the same broadband line, it will slow down the service, they can conflict and even stop your service. And if you do manage to connect they will probably notice the drop in performance when you start loading their bandwidth.

  7. Why not a wireless access point connected to your existing router?

Yes, you can connect router and connect it to the existing router, but the main function of the router is to route (give a device an IP and route to it). Both routers cannot be acting as the DHCP server for one network as they would possibly assign the same IP address to two different devices. So, you would have to turn off the DHCP functions and routing functions and basically make you brand new router nothing more than a wireless access point with maybe 4, 5, or 8 ports to use as a switch.

An access point on the other hand is basically the wireless portion that your wired router doesn’t have. You plug it in, configure it and then the wireless devices connect to the router via the wireless interface.

Logistically, you could use a long CAT 5e cable and physically locate the access point away from your body, so as to reduce your concern about the possible health risks.

  8. You can connect two routers together. If you plan to do this it is best to use a crossover cable instead of a regular patch cable when connecting two routers. I’ve actually done this with two linksys routers and had no problems. I did change the IP address (last octet) of the 2nd router just to prevent any possible conflict between the two devices.
