Question by hahaha: How to network a Non-Networking printer with a host computer?
I have a WBR 1310 dlink router connected to 2 desktops via wired internet (comp a, comp b) and a laptop via wireless internet (comp c). I have a Brother HL-2040 connected to comp a. Is there any way to make the printer work when I press print from comp b or c WITHOUT connecting the USB cable to the other printers.

When is two years one year?, February 21, 2013

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I recently bought a AT&T telephone with a one year warranty. At that time I also purchased a Square Trade 2 year protection plan. If something goes wrong with the telephone during the first year it is covered by AT&T – not by Square Trade. Square Trade’s warranty only applies during the second year – extending the warranty by ONE year – not two.
The Square Trade warranty, to me, is a ONE year warranty extension and should be described by Square Trade and Amazon.com as such.

Bought the 2 year extended warrentee for a tower fan I purchsed off of amazon.com. Fan broke down after 1.5 years. Called square trade for a replacement. Fast, simple and great customer service in getting a replacement. I have purchased two additional square trade warrentees since. Worth the money.

    Is a little confusing, November 30, 2012
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I purchased this warranty for a printer that was cheaper than what I would normally spend on a printer so I bought the warranty to be safe. I have to say that I have not had to use the warranty yet so can’t rate that part. I did read the reviews before purchasing the warranty and how one person said he bought the warranty for one item but it said another. This also happened to me. Warranty said it was for a computer. But you have to read all the emails they send you & follow directions you are able to change this when you register your warranty which was very fast & very easy. Think the just use a generic category in the purchasing process but you are able to get it exact later.

  4. Assuming you’re using Windows on those computers, do this on the computer the printer is attached to:

XP machines should be able to simply Share the printer from the machine it’s attached to, this way:

1.Click the Start->Control Panel menu item.
    2.Click Printers and Other Hardware.
    3.Click Printers and Faxes.
    4.Click the printer in question.
    5.Click the Printer->Sharing menu item.
    6.Click the Share radio button.
    7.Give the printer a name.
    8.Click OK.

If the machine with the printer has Windows XP and the other has Windows Vista, you have to do a bit more than that. Try this:

1.On the XP machine, set the printer to Sharing in the Printers and Faxes dialog box, as detailed above.
2.On the Vista machine, get to the Add A Printer dialog.
3.Click Add a local Printer. (Yes, I know it’s not local. Trust me.)
4.Click the Create a new port radio button. Leave the type of port set to Local Port.
    5.Click the Next button.
6.In the Port Name text box, enter the printer’s name, complete with the other machine’s name (e.g. \Bob’s MachineBob’s Printer).
    7.Click OK.

    Hope that helps.

  5. First you have to share the printer on the Host computer. Then get the name of that computer, right click on My Computer, go to properties, then click the Computer Name Tab. Then you have to Add Printer to both of the other computers. When you click Add Printer, you must select network printer, then click connect to the printer, then next, in the printer box type in \your computer nameprinter name, then click next,
click yes on the pop up box, select set as default and click finish.
